****damn, poor guy has a week like this, and no one plays? That's a boo... I was signed up but forgot about it until I got a msg about the tourney being cancelled... :-(

****because I'm in the 3r on FTP instead - only in for $9 with a decent stack post break - I threeball a raiser with AK on the button and have a blind JAM FOR 120BB... and I figure, WTF let's flip... he naturally shows AA, I river Broadway.

So that was nice. Yeah, I suck.

Later on, same villain recovers and rebuilds a stack, openraises 2.5x in EP, I defend in the BB with Ks7s and over 50BB behind. Flop 9s7x2s (WHEE). I check, he bets 2/3 pot, I raise 3x his lead, he JAMS and covers me.... I have to call with this draw and see JsJx... and I don't get there.

J on the turn, fills up on the river.

As bad as I play, he's 50-50 vs. almost anything I can have when I raise him on that that flop.

People are so smrt. Me also.

****Wife picked up the Glee Season 1 DVD today (I didn't think it would get here for XMas - ergo, I didn't buy it as a gift) and it's the FREAKING NUTS.

****OK, here's the yearly analysis.

-about +30% ROI for the year on MTT/SnGs, up over 7K

-given that I started out with about 1K - not bad grinding

-Even though I spiked a handful of final tables in big MTTs and came reallyreally close to making some big runs - I need to play them less because...

-I light up SnGs, one or two table, and need to play them more.

-I won plenty of SnGs, and finished strong in some MTTs, but didn't close out anything over 100 players.. :-( almost double digit wins in tourneys between 30-100 players, but not the big brass ring...

-I hardly played any cash - which is good, I know I'm a fish in online ring games.

-The absence of a BBT5, and decline of Blogger games, is likely going to kill my ROI in 2010.

So for 2010, I just want to freaking TAKE DOWN a tourney over 100+ players. keep a nice positive overall ROI...

And yeah, making a satellite to the WSOP ME or some other major live event later in the year (once BabyGirlHeff is older) would be the Sam Cassell sized nuts....

Actually had a nice holiday. Much grandchild/grandparent bonding when my parents came up to visit. Got a lovely jacket from the wife - she loves her Glee CDs - all is well.

watching Redskins-Cowboys now - God, Jason Campbell is the Michigan J. Frog of quarterbacks. This is a worse season than the Petitbon season after Gibbs left the first time. Shuffle the deck chairs, whatever, bring in new everything, nothing will change, sigh...

Poker News:

- ran the Guinness Record tourney on Stars today - got past 90% of the field, cashed for $4. LOLawesome

- Also built a stack in FTP's Double Deuce (AA v QQ all in preflop Level 1 for 160BB FTW, woot) - dumped it, got it back - right when FTP's servers died around 8pm. Whee. At least I got +120 for chip chop equity, but still, cmon....

Seeing a few year in review posts now - I may do one, but cliffs notes are - ran great for 7-8 months. Can't buy a winning month since September. Still ++++ for the year, so can't complain overall.

What's the secret?

* Play 9% of your hands.
* Win a flip on the final table bubble (KT so good when you open shove and a ten flops vs. 77)
* Stay out of everyone's way because people just do not raise/fold pre in the Mook.
* Outnit everyone else....

I never got above 11K in chips. I let some cats implode, then just roached my way in.

Now I owe the wife the side bet I made if I cashed....

-whines about a deal over and over
-makes silly money demands before even seeing the numbers on a deal
-angle shoots you when you finally say OK heads up and click deal, type in chat "ck down" and HE STILL BETS OUT ANYWAY.
-jams hands in PLO8 raised pots preflop like KKJ2 and QTT7 and gets there....
-and ends up winning. so his shady moves and lack of integrity get rewarded.

Since you don't have a long record of playing, I guess you're either a new player and don't know any better.... or you've been pulling stunts like this for a while under a different account.

Second place sucks, but at least I'm most of the way out of the stupid hole I dug in November. Damn, this is a lot of work sometimes.

Well, this is less than 50 miles from my house, so MAYBE I can have a decent live poker room to day trip to by mid-2010.

It would be nice if it spread a wide variety of low-limit games up to 10-20 and some decent tournaments.

What it'll probably do instead is have a bunch of 2/4 LHE, 1/2 NL, and tournaments with 50BB stacks and 20-minute blind levels that double, just like all the bar poker that's popular around here... :-( One can always hope, though.

Speaking of which, played Sunday afternoon at the local watering hole and finished 3rd/1st/busto in Level 2 for the three games, so maybe these turbo tourneys are right up my alley. Actually made a bunch of raise/fold laydowns preflop and got people to show me I was right every time...

Continued a small upswing by actually final tabling and cashing in the Mookie last night... Pretty simple run, make some hands, win a flip or two, take advantage of the fact that everyone thinks I'm a bluff monster so I can valuebet or call down with relative ease... I get a decent chip lead with four to play and then make a pretty silly mistake in a limped BvB pot.

Now, it looks pretty silly C/Ring and donking into the virtual nutz... and I'm not sure why I didn't just call the turn and evaluate the river - but obv I thought I could get a hero call from an overpair or a fold from a weak club - which is silly because Bone is doing neither as played.

Naturally, I don't do anything stupid without making trips on the river - which really shouldn't change anything regarding relative hand strength, but somehow I got it in my head that I could be valuebetting there. Not sure there's really any holding Bone gets to the river with that would make setting him in a smart play. Of course, given recent history, of course he has AA there, what else do I run into in the Mook?

Anyhow, soon after that we get three-handed, he minraises his button, I ship 13BB with 88 from the blind, he snaps with QJ and I lose the flip to finish third.

Played Skillz last night. Who knew a Razz SnG could take over two hours?

Played ridiculous tight for the first hour - Razz is easy when you start every hand with J high - didn't even get back over 3K in chips until 5 were left - but got on a heater, made some hands, eventually got heads up with cemfredmd down 2-1 in chips, where we actually used the dealmaking interface once I got back to even... Basic chip chop with a few bucks left over in the middle.

OK, that's not as exciting as it sounds.
